Exposing Libby's Lies and Fellow Neocons

Comment by Larry Ross, June 17, 2007

All the neocons mentioned below are highly placed members of the Bush Administration. To Libby and his fellows lying is second nature and regarded as a tool in their kit box of tricks to deceive the public into wars like Iraq.- and Iran to come. They invent various justifications for their lies, war plans and grandiose ambitions such as the goal of US global domination. They use the language and trigger words of 'Democracy, Freedom, Liberty, Free Expression', etc., to gain public approval and support for plans and wars based on gross deceit and deception. The psychopathogy of Bush makes the choice of such liars for top positions a very essential thing to do. If you decide on going for global domination, that means lots of lies, endless wars and killings and misery for all except those few people at the top of the military-industrial-political complex. President Eisenhower warned about the malign influence power of the "military-industrial complex" just before he left office in 1960. Almost 50 years later it is much more powerful. Wars are fabulously profitable for the few.

Bush's new 'wars of terror' ideology means that 'endless wars' are built into the American system. All that is needed is an endless supply of willing allies like Australia and the UK, as well as an endless supply of cannon fodder. That is why lit is very much the day of the liars in America and why Libby is so highly praised by the other neocon liars. Also, there is a very high probability that 'Scooter' Libby will be pardoned by Bush before he leaves office in 2008. If he stages his planned war on Iran, it means he has decided to continue with the next steps of his global domination plan. That in turn can mean that he has decided that he will try and stay in office beyond his term in 2008. To do this he may stage some kind of crisis situation that threatens America. Such as staging a 'false flag' terrorist attack or other trick - then yelling 'terrorist attack, crisis and emergency' in order to indefinitely postpone 2008 elections and stay in office continue his war agenda. Can Americans be fooled again and would they agree to Bush's indefinite postponement of elections and extension of his Presidency?

That is the $64 question. I would hope they wouldn't be fooled. But I fear they would believe and go along with Bush. The US mass media, already sold out to the Bush Administration and running every lie and suppression of most truths about the Bush Administration, Iraq war etc, is likely to do the same for new lies and tricks and new wars. That is the chosen role of the US media in America today. So long as the media go along, then the people may be fooled once again.

I don't think the US public have been sufficiently educated to be able to detect and resist the kind of lies Bush and co may soon use. Reading about the lies and liars below, will show that lying is an integral part of the Bush system and essential for the future plans of the neocons.

It is the team of top neocons described below by Bill Moyers, that invented the lies and justifications for Bush and his Administration to use to persuade the American people to support his illegal war on Iraq.

Strike against Iran will have huge political costs

by Bill Moyers, truthout, June 15, 2007

We have yet another remarkable revelation of the mindset of Washington's ruling clique of neoconservative elites - the people who took us to war from the safety of their Beltway bunkers. Even as Iraq grows bloodier by the day, their passion of the week is to keep one of their own from going to jail.

It is well-known that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby - once Vice President Cheney's most trusted adviser - has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for perjury. Lying. Not a white lie, mind you. A killer lie. Scooter Libby deliberately poured poison into the drinking water of democracy by lying to federal investigators, for the purpose of obstructing justice.

Attempting to trash critics of the war, Libby and his pals in high places - including his boss Dick Cheney - outed a covert CIA agent. Libby then lied to cover their tracks. To throw investigators off the trail, he kicked sand into the eyes of truth. "Libby lied about nearly everything that mattered," wrote the chief prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald. The jury agreed and found him guilty on four felony counts. Judge Reggie B. Walton - a no-nonsense, lock-em-up-and-toss-away-the-key type, appointed to the bench by none other than George W. Bush - called the evidence "overwhelming" and threw the book at Libby.

You would have thought their man had been ordered to Guantanamo, so intense was the reaction from his cheerleaders. They flooded the judge's chambers with letters of support for their comrade and took to the airwaves in a campaign to "free Scooter."

Vice President Cheney issued a statement praising Libby as "a man ... of personal integrity" - without even a hint of irony about their collusion to browbeat the CIA into mangling intelligence about Iraq in order to justify the invasion.

"A patriot, a dedicated public servant, a strong family man, and a tireless, honorable, selfless human being," said Donald Rumsfeld - the very same Rumsfeld who had claimed to know the whereabouts of weapons of mass destruction and who boasted of "bulletproof" evidence linking Saddam to 9/11. "A good person" and "decent man," said one-time Pentagon adviser Kenneth Adelman, who had predicted the war in Iraq would be a "cakewalk." Paul Wolfowitz wrote a four-page letter to praise "the noblest spirit of selfless service" that he knew motivated his friend Scooter. Yes, that Paul Wolfowitz, who had claimed Iraqis would "greet us as liberators" and that Iraq would "finance its own reconstruction." The same Paul Wolfowitz who had to resign recently as president of the World Bank for using his office to show favoritism to his girlfriend. Paul Wolfowitz turned character witness.

The praise kept coming: from Douglas Feith, who ran the Pentagon factory of disinformation that Cheney and Libby used to brainwash the press; from Richard Perle, as cocksure about Libby's "honesty, integrity, fairness and balance" as he had been about the success of the war; and from William Kristol, who had primed the pump of the propaganda machine at The Weekly Standard and has led the call for a presidential pardon. "The case was such a farce, in my view," he said. "I'm for pardon on the merits."
